ChathamHealthLink Policy and Procedure Committees
ChathamHealthLink trains key users at each of the participants and maintains the user roles and access permissions of all clinical and administrative users authorized to access the HIE.ChathamHealthLink standing policy and procedure committees guide the HIE and its participants in the implementation of best practices for reliable and secure operation of an HIE including federal, state and local laws and regulations related to the privacy and security of patient information.
The Policy and Procedure Committees are:
- The IT Consortium: The IT Consortium was formed in 2008 to guide the planning and development of the Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council's (CCSNPC) Health Information Exchange. Members of the IT Consortium include representatives from all of the CCSNPC partner providers: Chatham County Health Department, Memorial University Medical Center, St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital, Curtis V. Cooper Primary Care Center, J. C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center, St. Mary's Health Center, Good Samaritan and Community Health Mission. The IT Consortium also includes Savannah Business Group, a business coalition that coordinates the purchase of health care services for self funded employers.
Successes of this committee include the encouragement of EMR adoption within the CCSNPC provider system, the development of the HIE architecture and the process of software vendor selection and contracting. Currently, the IT Consortium continues meet to facilitate the process of EMR adoption throughout the Chatham County medical community and adding provider participants to the HIE. - Steering Committee: Two representatives from each provider partner and the CCSNPC Executive Committee staff this committee along with the CCSNPC Executive Director and the CCSNPC IT Implementation Manager. This group is responsible for developing all contracts and agreements among the HIE participants and for developing and maintaining the Policy and Procedure Manual. All Policies and Procedures go to the CCSNPC Executive Committee as recommendations for the Executive Committee review and acceptance.
- User Committee: Chaired by the CCSNPC IT Implementation Manager, this committee is open to all current and future users of ChathamHealthLink. Questions and recommendations from users are presented to the Steering Committee for possible development into policy or procedures.
