HRSA Grant
"The Health Resources and Services Administration promotes the widespread availability and use of digital networks to improve access to health care services for people who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable."In August 2008, the Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council was awarded an equipment grant by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for the period 09/01/2008 through 8/31/2013. This grant supports CCSNPC's project to expand the use of health information technology and its use in the delivery of health care to the uninsured in the community. This project builds on existing health information technology structures, encouraging the dynamic networking among ten community agencies who share expertise, knowledge and resources. Through this innovative project, CCSNPC will develop interoperability between hospital systems and safety net providers, enable cumbersome workflow exchanges among providers to be efficient and effective, allow for data reporting and ultimately reduce healthcare costs and improve health outcomes for the medically underserved.
