Safety Net Launches Health Information Exchange Pilot Project

On April 14, 2010, the Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council launched our Health Information Exchange Pilot Project between Memorial Health University Medical Center Emergency Department and J. C. Lewis Primary Healthcare Center as part of the celebration of National County Government Month.

The first of its kind in Georgia, our Health Information Exchange is designed to make access to care easier, by understanding that people do not have the luxury of planning ahead for a health crisis and may need to seek care at the last minute wherever they can find it. Wherever patients present for care, their records will follow them. In this way, the care they receive will be better, because clinical decisions made by their healthcare providers are based on complete information.
