16,000 Children Now Enrolled in Health Coverage Nationwide

Watch a video about more than 16,000 uninsured children and parents nationwide enrolled in or renewed health insurance coverage through the Cities Expanding Health Access for Children and Families (CEHACF) initiative. Implemented in eight cities across the country, the competitive grant program aimed to improve public health by using comprehensive enrollment campaigns for children and their parents who were eligible for but not enrolled in Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The initiative was sponsored by the Atlantic Philanthropies, administered by the National League of Cities, and evaluated by Mathematica Policy Research.

The N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion implements successful nurse-managed Hepatitis C program at St. Mary’s Health Center and Good Samaritan Clinic

In 2014, no HCV+ individuals had been treated at St. Joseph’s/Candler two safety net clinics. In 2015, three HCV+ individuals were treated using medication provided through MedBank, a pharmaceutical assistance program, and using a nurse-practitioner co-management treatment model supported by an internal medicine physician specializing in HCV treatment. Dr. Kyauna Miller is a native of Newark, New Jersey where she was born the daughter of two school teachers, Mr. Glenn C Miller and Marilyn G Miller.  She received her undergraduate degree, a Bachelors of Art in Cultural Anthropology, from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, in 2002.  She subsequently obtained her M.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio in 2008.  She completed 4 years of post-graduate residency training at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
and is double board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

Dr. Miller is well trained, qualified and passionate about providing quality medical care to patients of all ages.  She is very excited to join the staff of excellent medical providers at JC Lewis Primary Care and hopes to accomplish several goals as a member of the team: 1. Leave a legacy of compassionate and excellent medical care. 2. Gain and maintain the respect and trust of her patients, and the local community 3. Two Georgia Health Information Exchanges Join Forces to Coordinate Care State-Wide

 

SAVANNAH, GA — Dec. 9, 2014 — The Georgia Regional Academic Community Health Information Exchange (GRAChIE) and The Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council (CCSNPC) announced today a partnership to interconnect their respective health information exchanges (HIEs).
